Cystic Fibrosis Trust
Description
Founded in 1964, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to cystic fibrosis (CF), serving the 11,000+ people with CF in the UK. It operates the UK CF Registry holding data on over 99% of UK CF patients and one of the world's most comprehensive CF databases and has invested over £10 million since 1997 in NHS clinical care teams.
Through initiatives like the Clinical Trials Accelerator Platform (CTAP) and the UK CF Registry, the Trust accelerates the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical practice. It funds projects ranging from early-stage molecular research to patient-centered studies, focusing on infection control, lung health, and emerging genetic therapies.
The Trust’s mission is to create a “life unlimited” for everyone affected by CF. It drives medical research to develop better therapies, supports clinical care within the National Health Service, and offers advocacy to secure equitable access to lifesaving medicines. The organization also provides information and emotional assistance through its national helpline and digital communities.
